จัดตั้งขึ้นโดยเปิดโอกาสให้คนตาบอดได้มีส่วนร่วมในการบริหารงานเพื่อประโยชน์สำหรับคนตาบอด คนพิการ ผู้ที่ทุพพลภาพ ตลอดจนผู้ด้อยโอกาสให้สามารถเข้าถึงอุปกรณ์ เทคโนโลยี สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกช่วยในการดำรงชีวิตประจำวัน การศึกษา และการประกอบอาชีพ สามารถใช้ชีวิตในสังคมได้อย่างเท่าเทียม มีความสุข โดยมีมูลนิธิธรรมิกชนเพื่อคนตาบอดในประเทศไทย ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ เป็นผู้ถือหุ้นรายใหญ่ในการดำเนินธุรกิจเพื่อสังคม (Social Enterprise: SE)
โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อดำเนินกิจการที่มีจุดมุ่งหมายหลักในการแก้ไขปัญหาสังคมและสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยใช้กลไกการบริหารจัดการที่ดีของภาคธุรกิจบวกกับความรู้และนวัตกรรมทางสังคม ให้มีความยั่งยืนทางการเงินจากรายได้หลักที่มาจากการจำหน่ายสินค้าหรือการให้บริการโดยไม่ต้องพึ่งพาเงินบริจาค และมีการนำผลกำไรที่เกิดขึ้นไปลงทุนซ้ำเพื่อแก้ปัญหาที่ส่งผลกระทบด้านคุณภาพชีวิตคนพิการ
